With Ramadan around the corner, the non Muslims also look forward to the fasting month with fellow Muslim friends. I have never been able to fast and it really is impressive how the Muslims manage to go through this entire fasting month. I probably would have fainted or admitted to the hospital if doing so. Having said that, I do enjoy the ‘buka puasa’ a lot. The joy is definitely the part where I would get to sit along with my friends and have a good time. A good suggestion of a great place for this coming ramadan month would be Frontera bar in Jaya one.
Firstly, I must thank Frontera with those amazing food, as well as Foodpanda for the invitation. At the price of RM 50 ++, the ramadan buffet menu consist of starters, mains and desserts. It didn’t wander far from the Mexican flavour as there are plenty of their famous tacos, as well as variety of bruschettas , salads and soup.
The soup is great with spike of slight piquant but explosively savoury as it roams in your mouth. It made quite a good starter and served hot, could really drive your gastronomy desires. With the Ramadan deal, this soup of the day served amazing with tortilla strips, cheese and cilantro. For those planing to feast this ramadan buffet, be prepared to get carried away with the blasting flavours of assorted dressings and combinations of fresh green leaves to indulge and savour it to tie own liking. I like mine with lots of cheese.
I enjoyed rest of the starters especially the tacos. Something frontera has always been good with. My favourite is the Fish Taco.
And don’t forget the Tostadas and Bruschettas, 2 types each so anyone can enjoy the variety of those delicioso Mexican flavours.
The mains were this great list of assorted Ingredients of a variety of poultries and seafood. Well I couldn’t possibly try all of it, although deep down, I really do wanna whack everything. LOL..So I tried the Maple Glazed Salmon. Chuparse los dedos!
I also tried the BBQ grilled pineapple chicken. The pineapple gave tangy sweet flavour while the BBQ sauce provides a speck of brine to this main course. Not to mention how the juicy pineapple compliments the meat so perfectly as if it was meant to be compatible with one another.
So basically, there is beef, chicken, fish, prawns,…and the best thing is, the portions will be at a moderate palate portion. I thought that would be something to consider when having buffets. There are so much other sides to indulge and I thought it would be a enjoyable dining experience when feasting with family and friends. The mains will be serving with side dishes on a side bar so don’t forget to try their Mexican rice or Mashed Potato. I cannot wait to go back for the rice, probably the best rice as sides for ramadan buffet that I have ever had so far.
Finally, how can I resist the dessert buffet? I know, I know…desert is bad enough…and now BUFFET? We were served the Fiesta de Fruita, Mexican Flan, Tres Leches Cake, Fruit popsicles, and Brownies. Mexican Flan is really smooth in texture and those brownies are to die for. The flavour roams in my mouth and that would keep you wanting more of it after every bite.
If you like something not so heavy and refreshing, then go for the Fruit Popsicles, Fiesta de Fruita or at least the Tres Leches Cake. They are equally as refreshing and mildly sweet to my liking.
