The Blue Dragon Café is located at Pandan Indah and I decided to check them out on my way to the US embassy. Since I don’t travel anywhere much on Cheras area anymore, I thought I should do it at the same time. Of course not forgetting to thank JoinMe for the cash voucher.
The place was not too difficult to locate, and the café did provide a good ambience for dinning. A quick browse at their menu and set lunch concludes the fusion gastronomy choice of dishes. The set lunches are extremely worth and huge in portion. It comes with some drinks or soup and best to cater the lunch crowd around that area. With a high ceiling and choices of either indoor or outdoor dining, customers get to enjoy their meal quietly. The 1st floor provides even more exclusive dining ambience as there are cubicles if you need a good and quiet time over your meal.
Having said all that, I was there with our Thai friend Elena, so we decided to go with the Thai dishes. There is the Deep fried fish & vegetable with kapi sauce for RM13. The raw vegetables are sweet and fresh; the fish was fried just right to still taste the succulent meat of the fish on the inside, with crispy skin on the outside. Ultimately, this dish must have really fresh ingredient to meet the essential key to delicious dish.
Next is their famous Coconut seafood tom yum soup. Think conventional spicy sour Tom Yum soup. With a mix of slight sweetness from the refreshing coconut juice. In the soup is fresh fish slices, squids, prawns, and coconut meat cooked with soft texture that also tasted a bit sour and appetizing. The pot of soup cost RM 20 and it does quite a good sharing portion for two.
Then I tried the vegetable and this one is interestingly served with two in one of the same plant. The Stir and Deep fried kailan cost RM 18 and this generous portion of vegetable comes with two flavours, the stir fried and the deep fried. The deep fried had a great texture especially when it was served with fried baby anchovies.
Lastly, we picked the famous Thai dessert, Tub Tim Krob which Elena could not resist from ordering. We were being recommended their ABC, but since Elena is all into the water chestnut then we proceeded with Tub Tim Krob instead. I didn’t quite fancy the coconut milk in it so instead; I ordered the Fresh dragon fruit juice. For RM 6, I would really expect them to have given pure juice or maybe less diluted. The water chestnut was not far from disappointing as well. There were no jackfruits in it if you are expecting authentic Thai Tub Tim Krob. Pay RM 4.50 for some shredded ice and coconut milk with lots of water chestnuts.
