A fine premise and perfectly located along the popular river in Melaka, Halia Inc stood beautifully with robust feature and conveniently fire up quite an extensive range of dishes to offer. From something you can stop by just to munch because a main meal is absurd when aplenty of local delights are within close proximity or solely for a drink to tackle the heat in this UNESCO heritage town, to meals of bigger serving size, browsing the menu is enjoyable. And, lazing around the outdoor patio is very relaxing. The spacious cafe provides the perfect ambiance to start the day off right with a cuppa as you bask in to good life.
Alas, we didn’t enjoy the food as much as we did browsing through their wide menu. Fusing local flavours to French fries, their Commando chips (RM 12) would be more of a delight if fresher but credits go the peanut anchovies being addictive to munch continuously.
There are burgers and sandwiches, and serving a 120g patty, the Halia inc beef cheese burger (RM 26) serves burger accompanied by French fries, mainly to mop up any fallen casualties. With mayonnaise, cucumber and tomato slices, and lettuce between a long bun, this supposedly creates a delectable bite. Alas, the loose patty was a mess to eat when chunks of meat falls apart so easily.
Thank goodness their Korean Fried Chicken with Tangy Green Apple Salad (RM 18) made a redemption, mainly with the green apple salad that’s sweet and crunchy.
They don’t have an eclectic beverage menu but they do have an espresso bar. Latte (RM 10), Cappuccino (RM 10), Matcha latte (RM 10), and Affogato with salted Gula Melaka ice cream (RM 15) were ordinary despite some extra effort in the later. The flavour and fragrance from the Gula melaka weren’t prominent to earn any extra appraisal.
