Every now and then, we do our best to escape the hustle bustle and one popular way is to indulge in food. And not just any food, the comfort food for the morning after-be it with or without a hangover. The spot’s latest offering is The Morning After’s newest outlet. Located at the new T6 Light Grey Mall in Sungai Buloh, is a spacious charm with lovely ambiance that is perfect for any morning after.
The cuisine on offer is a hodgepodge and we dive in with a portion of sharing nibbles like the Shoestring Fries with Truffle Oil (RM 10) or the Buffalo Wings and their special dip (RM 18). Although lacking in truffle fragrant, the side dipping sauce added the right amount of flavour in making it substantially addictive.
With a list of breakfast dishes on the menu, High and Mighty Londoner (RM 25) stood out. This basic selection of breakfast choices comes in options of either poached or fried eggs, grilled tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, English muffin, sausages and baked beans. Really good for brunch over any “after mornings”.
Their menu apparently is wider than just breakfast dishes. Those mains are impressive – Grilled Salmon with apple and watercress salad, horseradish sauce and potato nest (RM 30),Grilled Lamb Shoulder served with sauteed mushrooms, mixed vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes (RM 30), and Striploin Steak served with sautéed mushrooms, mixed vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes (RM 37). Everyone approved their mash potatoes, myself polished it clean from the plates. Serving portion is good, with a standard protein source sitting nicely on a bed of mashed potatoes, and accompanied by vegetables.
Cooked with the right amount of tenderness, as well as featuring some fresh harvest from the sea, After morning hits home run with some nice addition of pasta dishes on their menu. Spicy Aglio Olio with Shrimps and Zucchini (RM 22) and Soft Shell Crab with Neapolitan sauce & rocket salad (RM 34) are not classic Italian, but exudes notable flavour locals would really love.
The friendly restaurant would get anyone salivating from when the aroma of freshly baked pizzas is being served. New on their menu is the Ikan Bilis Pizza that is fun to savour, with very uneven spread of ikan bilis but cooked to the right and pleasant thickness.
To make it whole and complete, After morning made space for dessert to fit into the two- page menu and all three desserts that we tried were sufficient to guaranteed to keep the taste bud happy to the last bite, but not enough to warrant a re-order of the same item.
