Hotel Transit on Jalan Pudu is a newer addition to this busy transit and houses Em by Tedboy to serve simple and wholesome offerings with global touch of cultural influences. Delicately running following her brother Tedboy Bakery, Em here is set to capture the stomach of both local and travelers with their creative menu. Be inspired by their comforting and delicious meal and sit back to enjoy the amazing view of KL Tower at their beautiful hub. There is plenty to offer- for sharing and solo diners.
Em by Tedboy offers a roundup of cleverly crafted options for almost everyone. If looking for the clean and healthy source, their Asian Tabbouleh (RM 22) puts together couscous with a medley of lovely mix of tasty herbs and leafs. And adding more flavour to this otherwise bland and dull vegetarian dish is the clever affix of anchovies.
Comforting offering continues with their Big Pho Ga (RM18)- your Vietnamese rice noodles with lovely stock of chicken broth and heap inclusion of radish, basil and mint and the wedge of lime.
But if mild flavoured soup or clear broth isn’t your thing, there is always the flavour packed Indochina Beef Ragout (RM 25)- a serving of beef stewed with carrots served with white rice and a side companion of some raw leafs. Beef beautifully cooked to pair with the thick gravy for rich flavour at every bite.
Just as I thought beef is good, there is my favourite lamb. Moroccan Lamb Tajine (RM 26) got my heart skipped a beat at the first bite itself. A good round up of spices and herbs got the dish very well balanced in taste and aroma with rice replaced with couscous instead, this combination is very clever indeed.
The next dish takes us to Europe, and although this Silky Carbonara (RM 19) may not be something most people are familiar with, this version that is light and not heavily tossed with heavy cream is good to have us polishing every bit of it.
Then came what I believe would be a popular choice and one of the most ordered dish – the The Salmon Salsa (RM 30).A plump fillet resting on a bed of mashed potatoes with homemade Salsa to dance along the healthy protein source is pleasant and at the same time filling and wholesome. But that’s not my favourite salmon dish on the menu. The Smokin Salmon (RM 26) is fantastic and delightful when it comes to the crunchy texture and the cheesy mozzarella topping.
Also packed with delicious sea harvest is the Seafood Paella. This Spanish dish is generous with their fresh seafood and served with raindrops of edamame. Squeeze a generous amount of lemon into this and without pretention it’ll instantly bring out the flavours of this vibrant dish.
The dessert menu might not have something for everyone but a small menu is good.Crème Brulee (RM 12) could be a great finishing to a good and satisfying meal here, with that light cream and a good creation of decent sweet balance for the palate.
This place lies somewhere between a gourmet restaurant and a casual bistro cafe and with the pretty set up within the hotel itself; this is still a rare sight in this city, which is why Em by Tedboy holds plenty of promise.
