With culinary ethnicity and epicurean gear to create a comforting selection of dishes and artisanal pastries and bakery, The Embassy Café and Bakery at the Starling Mall in Damansara Uptown embarks on an adventure with aim to provide the best of hospitality with a serving of delicious meals. The result: cozy, bright and warm toned eatery that’s all about embassy’s generosity when it comes to services and both Eastern and Western fare of an extensive offering for everybody on the menu.
This cozy café restaurant set in a windowed outlet in the mall serves pretty amazing choices of starters, light bites, mains, and even dessert. At a recent tasting menu, we had the local flavour we love for starter and this light bite of Spicy Sausage Ikan Bilis sure is a good representative of Malaysians palate before things got interesting with the Nordic Salad when vege lovers get to savour the fresh greens with a golden crispy soft shell crab.
Being Malaysian, the Embassy Nasi Istimewa (RM 28) is one of the best with aplenty items in one. This homemade fried rice served with spicy anchovies and tempe sambal, fried cabbage, ayam pindang, pappadoms, kerabu mangga and topped with sunny side egg cannot be any more wholesome and complete than it already is. This serving comes with a very delicious ayam pindang that’s served separately and what’s most importantly, it is not every other day that you come across ayam pindang on the menu anywhere else.
From East to West and you’ll find the diplomatic détente with some of the western influences in the choices of items on the menu. Spaghetti has a lovely homemade tomato sauce and Rock O’ Lamb (RM 48) serves juicy lamb on a bed of garlic butter mash, with honey glazed carrots and French beans. That mash was a star on this plate with majority votes from the table, but I’ll shine the limelight on the mint sauce.
The Ambassador(RM 38) is your stack of char grill succulent beef patty, topped with double cheese, sunny side up, homemade onion ring, beef bacon strips, and drizzled with hickory BBQ sauce. We love the gourmet onion ring and knowing that they are avoiding premade food is already an extra point.
Sweet treats brings you quite a selection of dessert and once again the impressive selection of choices are absolutely remarkable. Eton Mess (RM 15) serves a mix of meringue, heavy whipped cream and a balancing tang of fresh fruit in it. Sago Kg Melaka (RM 12) brings traditional sago to commercial contemporary. This sago is served with fresh cut of fruits in dice and some of that fragrant brown coconut sugar.
Coffee lovers will be happy to know that your coffee selections are chosen by their Head Coffee Specialist and Manager, Joseph Long who brews the best espresso in Malaysia Barista Championship 2013 and the most perfect art in Malaysia Latte Art 2015 Sensory when you order your latte.
