La Cave @ Bangsar
With a fourth generation wine maker Florian Paul Raymond as one of the partner, wine enthusiastic have a new option to sample more wines choices especially uncommon and unconventional labels from both the New and Old World wines. Donnie Eugene Maclary is the other brain of La Cave and it’s for the same passions especially for good wine and socialising, that the two made such good team to bring some unique drinking experience for consumers in the trendy Telawi enclave in Bangsar.
The “cellar” albeit tiny and narrow was very polished and cleverly designed with tiers of wine racks to showcase some over 200 odd labels starting from RM 75 per bottle on one side and the other, with a large mirror wall to produce space illusion. In the bar is strictly non-smoking but there’s a facade of alfresco seats. The passion for the business is clearly translated into their interior and everything is kept comfortable with warm lighting and bare tables and stools. It’s a mixed concept of modern and traditional. They offer this gorgeous space for events and functions with no extra charge but of course with a little profit from the wine. Food to pair with wines are available. At the moment, they serve pizza, cold cuts, cheeses, breads, and pate.
Considering the abundance choice of rare and unfamiliar wine selections, owners are more than happy to talk wine and spirit with you. And while there’s a wide range of French wines, Florian, of course, recommends his family’s artisanal Fiesta label from Madiran, France. As a wine importer, expect reasonably priced bottles. To keep things even more interesting, there is certified halal alcohols! Check out this one with real 24K gold in it.
