Eat & Cook Asia @ Bukit Jalil – redefining Omakase

Think omakase and one would relate high standards and premium and rare ingredients on top of a respect for traditional methods of sushi crafting. Except things have evolve a and expanded to omakase being essentially about bringing forward the tradition of entrusting your palate in the hands of your chef regardless the food genre. One thing stays true in all food regardless of food genre is that the best and freshest when it comes to source of produce is key to quality of the dish. Combining that with sophistication of exquisite services and ambiance, and techniques of food preparation and presentation will be your perfect dining experience of an enjoyable omakase course.

We see that in Eat & Cook Asia, fulfilling the criteria and pushing it to extravagant of contemporary with plenty cooking techniques cleaver utilized, using nothing but the best and most refined of what you can source locally. As a result, this becomes that omakase that’s going against the grain when it comes to defining omakase. There is no sashimi, no wasabi or sushi. Instead, I had Cameron tomatoes, salted vegetables, buah kulim, asam boi, coconuts and many of our local ingredients we so often underutilised. I must say that some of the dishes did surprise me. While conventional omakase relies heavily on fresh sashimi, Eat and Cook showcased so much more on the skills and techniques on top of creativity that’s put into making every dish outstanding on its own.

I can honestly say that the omakase experience here is not your conventional and is absolutely not one that comes with refined interior that makes you want to take time to reflect on life. Music was loud and certainly felt like a rush hour dining for a slow poke like myself. I did not notice any guests slowing the service but I figure it pretty much have something to do with their batch services as every plate is dished out simultaneously. That was being compensated with if I may call it overly attentive service which most people (but me) would enjoy. For two hours, I felt like a queen.

Located in the modern business hub of Bukit Jalil, Eat and Cook Asia was obviously born from the need for an elevated omakase experience. One that is unconventional.  Watch my dining experience appearing in my vlog.
