This is a rather new steamboat restaurant called Bone & Pot, 有骨气 (Yau Guat Hei) which is located along LDP highway. The Chinese name itself is rather interesting too. For it also means “having integrity” and at the same time meaning “having bone fragrant”. This tells their signature broth is prepared with pork bone.

First of all, the choices of soup base itself are already an attractive option in any steamboat restaurants. Other than the signature pork bone and corn soup, there are many other choices like the Hong Kong Tom yum broth, Preserved eggs with Chinese parsley broth  or the Pork intestine soup. Being a steamboat fan, I choose to dine in their VIP room in level 1, which I am very pleased with the privacy in each room. The rooms are each set up with TV and soothing lightings.

The soup was prepared with pork bone and corn, along with white radish and carrots. The soup alone tasted amazing.

There is a wide selection of processed balls, sliced poultry, seafood, mushrooms, and vegetables. I was taken aback with the ice beancurd, especially when cooked in the tom yum soup. The meat balls are all pure meat. Be it chicken, beef or pork, they are all huge and sized of almost as big as a ping pong ball.

Also, you might want to try some of their light snacks while cooking time takes place in the pot. They recommend the Hong Kong snack golden bean curd.  Tasted much like ordinary tofu, but the coating was unique and rare. Not commonly served elsewhere, it was delightfully crispy and savory with the chili sauce.

Speaking of chili sauce, there is a wide variety of sauces to your personal taste bud. They interestingly also have crunched roasted peanuts. I thought it was brilliant as not many steamboat restaurants have that.

Although they use electrical stove instead of conventional gas stove, the whole pot and meal is nevertheless still warm and hot especially if you have a big crowd. Good thing there was only three of us. So it was pretty relaxing to enjoy the meal with a pot of my favourite Jasmine tea.
