Desa Sri Hartams is a place with not much choices of Chinese food. There is one stall which got my attention lately and I had to share it everyone else. This stall is located right next to Denise Wine and they sell really fresh steam fish dishes. Many would order just the fish and rice. There are quite a number of ways in preparing the different choices of fish available. They serve with steaming, which I really love especially when those fishes are always fresh.
Apart from steam fishes, they do vegetable dishes too. Mostly simple stir fried with garlic. Also the availability of those vegetable types also varies on daily basis. The availability of a specific vegetable very much depends on what was fresh.
Also available on the menu is the steam tofu, a simple and yet delicious dish. The tofu was soft and after steaming it, the stir fried garlic in oyster sauce was served in this tofu dish while sprinkled with generous amount of chopped spring onions.
A tip for all, the nearby stall sells delicious Bah Kut Teh in claypot. The Bah Kut Teh here is slightly sweet and the herbal flavour isn’t too strong. For some reason, the Bah Kut Teh goes rather well with steam fish dishes.
For a delicious, simple, good and affordable meal, this is a great place after a long day of work. The dishes were very homemade style and not too sophisticated. The boss makes sure those fishes are moderately sized so the portion and amount is just nice.
The Steam Fish stall is located at Desa Sri hartamas (next to Denise Wine along Jalan 27/70A , Desa Sri Hartamas). Locate them on the GPS at :3.163165,101.650043

Most importantly, the fish must be very very fresh – then it will be nice, never mind what ingredients you add. Food here looks pretty good – ooooo…pork! I like! LOL!!!
Totally agree with you. Doesn’t matter what ingredients..so long as it is fresh then it is all good.
I’m so glad I had my breakfast before I read your blog. These food all look so delicious. Fish and tofu ❤
Lol…reading blogs before breakfast? Wow… ! In Hartamas, there is not much simple Chinese food that is cheap. Mostly are usually a little overprice…but this one is ok.
Never realised there was a Chinese eatery there. Either that or beady eyes me wasn’t looking carefully.
Love a good meal of steam fish…
Ya man, the problem in this area is no chinese food. I know I struggle finding chinese food for dinner. Usually I just eat somewhere else before coming home.
good-looking fish! when i was a kid, i used to dislike steamed fish, cos i thought it was bland and one-dimensional, but over the past 10 years, it’s become something i’m learning to enjoy more and more. i’d like to try the one here! 😀
Ya, kids wouldn’t like steam fish. My niece is having this problem now…:(
I love steamed fish! Especially if it’s teochew style. 😀
I love all steam fishes. Even more if the fish are really really fresh..best. Would be from home. No msg whatsoever.
