The time of the year is here again, where we share food and culture and togetherness to rejoice the fasting month along with authentic local delights at the Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur’s “Balik Kampung Fiesta”. Being a member of the WORLDHOTELS, this 5- star hotel has the Eccucino’s Culinary team firing up the most delicious Ramadan treats from 18 June to 15 July 2015, serving Iftar and Sahur buffets with dishes lavishly prepared with fresh ingredients from the most authentic recipe closest to the states of origin.
Starting with an assortment of Kerabus, the spread of salad varieties answers to the love for raw leafs with the mix of proteins of your choice. From Rojak Buah to acar mentah, and Kerabu Daging Kacang Botol to Kerabu Ayam Panggang, get started with these cold dishes before moving to the main dishes from the buffet range.
Whether from the barn or sea, choices of poultry and seafood offer the classic flavour with some of the flavours of local spices. There is the Deep Fried Sea Bass with Red Guava Salad (Ikan Siakap Goreng Acar Jambu) Braised Beef with Local Spice (Rendang Tok), Roasted Chicken with Honey and Sesame (Ayam Panggang Madu Berbijan), Oxtail cooked with Dried Cilli and Tamarind Gravy (Oxtail Assam Pedas), Kambing Vindaloo and Udang Masak Tempoyak Petai throughout the coming holy month.
The mains did not stop just right there, diners should be able to find something they like with very minimal effort.
Satay Station offers Chicken and Beef Satay with condiments accompanied by a party of Lemang and Ketupat. A selection of Lemang, Lemang Pulut Hitam & Ketupat, with Serunding and Sambal Ikan Bilis lie ahead before heading to the live stations.
Behold their live station, their signature carving station where it showcases Nasi Mady Arab bersama Kambing Panggang (Saffron rice with roasted lamb) with a perfect assortment of delicious gravy to match the rice.
At the live noodle station, help yourself with the Malaysian laksa from up north and down south; the Laksa Utara and Laksa Johor. The condiments were lovely in assortment and I love how I can custom my preferences accordingly to my palate.
If that’s not enough, be sure to stop by the live local grilled seafood- where fresh sea harvests are grilled with air asam, sambal kicap, cili potong with soy sauce to present the classic local flavours.
Emphasizing on the food authenticity in their buffet preparation, the dining experience is what’s to be experienced with mum’s cooking back home where diners savour the ethnic dishes. That was according to their Executive Chef Donald Pezar and true enough, I love the Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak. This fermented durian cannot be any more suitable and empowering to represent Malay cooking, and along with the fresh plump slices of fish, was a delight and joy to consume.
Desserts consist of none other than those really delightful local favourites. They’ll be serving what Malaysians are really familiar with; Bubur Pulut Hitam, Bubur Kacang Hijau Durian, ABC and Cendol, Tapai Ubi and Tapai Pulut, Tempeyek, Assorted Dodol and the very authentic Malay Kuehs.
To add to the Ramadhan “Buka Puasa” festivities, diners will also be entertained by a traditional “Ghazal” band from Seri Mewah. The band consists of an accordion, acoustic guitar and “Gendang” (Percussions) that will perform three sessions of music that varies from Ghazal, Asli and Modern music. The band plays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm daily during this promotional period.

It’s that time of the year already? To tell you the truth, in my whole entire life I’ve only been to one Ramadhan Buffet and it’s just meh.
Yes, the time of the year is here. Lol. I’ll have to admit that not all buffet are fantastic. It’s wise to look up more info to avoid disappointment. Having said that, there is only that much hotel buffets can offer so they pretty much don’t stray far from one another. I say look for the hotel signatures that’ll match your personal preferances. Probably, you’d find something you like this year. 🙂
