From cultivation and preparation to appreciation and consumption, food has long been considered a form of cultural heritage. Offering their new course; Diploma in Heritage Cuisine to preserving the Malaysian culinary masterpieces, Berjaya University College of Hospitality’s School of Culinary Arts is conserving the spark of that diamond before anyone looses it. Creating identity claims of ‘cultural heritage’ on Malaysian cuisines and beyond the basic culinary techniques and theories, the course extends its modules to analysing the fundamentals of 13 states’ cuisines through history and cultural influences with the hopes of contributing towards the preservation of Malaysian Culinary Masterpieces.
Being blessed with multiracial and harmony in the country, the course is as elusive cultural heritage and a revitalization of how traditions are invented. Culinary skills are further sharpened by understanding the nature and impact of heritage cuisines on hospitality industry and/ or food industry. And with the combination of fundamental modules in business and management subjects that comes with it, students will be equipped to launch their careers either in the private sector or entrepreneur ventures.
The launch of this diploma course is recently celebrated at the Berjaya University College of Hospitality, with a galore of Malaysian heritage cuisines skillfully executed to showcase various elements of heritage basic knowledge and different types of cooking techniques.
Intakes are currently in the month of January, May and September for duration of 2 years a semester of comprehensive training in the internship programme. It has been specially designed to give you an intensive hands-on learning experience within a challenging work environment.
