At the Black Market Headquater at Kampung Pandan KL, this place is a honeypot for the neighbourhood. Setting in a quiet, comfortable bar dining with a quaint terrace filled with vines and greens and away from the buzzes of traffics, this may be just the thing to lure people away from the flurry of KL’s hubbub. Situated along Jalan Kampung Pandan and like their other outlets that I’ve visited, this dimly lit restaurant boasts an interior that pays homage to classy and elegance – neat leather seat and black glossy curtain separating private dining area with a sparse bar area to offer boozes before meal.
When we open the menu to order, I was taken aback by some of the prices and I can see why this place is filled with working crowd from within the proximate during lunch hour. Set lunch options are aplenty with good serving portion. We are here for brunch and some good catch up with friends and it is never too early for light booze, something most ladies never say no to- Somersby.
Main draw might not have been truffle, but there sure is a whip of truffle in quite a fair bit of dishes on the menu ergo we ordered Truffle Mushroom Soup (RM 16) and Black Truffle Pate on Toast (RM 18) for starters. Both did not make it to my list for recommendation to truffle fan but suffice for us to finish it.
And crowned to be the top seller on their starter page, the Black Market’s Style of garlic and butter sauce served their Garlic Butter Scallop (RM 18) directly from the cast iron skillet was better than it looks. Intense garlic with aroma of butter and the juicy and plump scallop accompanied with toast is simply not difficult to see why this reign as a top seller.
Then the showdown of the day appeared still in lid trapped with smoke inside, the stylish serving is already breath taking on its own. As the lid opened and smoke escapes, the room instantly filled with intense aroma that triggers the neural responses to signal salivation within seconds.

The Cigar Kampung Chicken (RM 48++) serves a whole free range chicken smoked with applewood and accompanied with secret homemade sauce to go with some refreshing salad.
And game on strong is the pork ribs from Spain to present the recommended 3 Chef’s Crispy Pork Ribs (RM 48++) The recipe of this was created by 3 head chefs from different cuisine, the pork ribs are slow cook for 16 hours and deep fried to thin crisp. It was fresh, handled correctly by their experience kitchen staffs, and most importantly, a real delight to polish especially with the lovely sauce that comes with it.
Every other outlet of Black Market is as comfortable as this one but the head quarter here is also where food preparations are centralized. This bistro restaurant is plating up hearty dishes with an emphasis on premium meats and quality seafood. Expect a lovely range of wine to pair your meal and feel exclusive at the same time with their sophisticated interior design.
