It’s odd enough to find halal Korean restaurants with more than a one page menu, let alone one that pulls an appreciative residential crowd here at the Bangsar South. Oiso Korean restaurant has real warmth that even on a cold Friday night, with a stairs leading to the patio dining room, still drawing diners to their pork-free Korean dishes.
From ramyeon to rice rolls, to pancake and banchan (side dishes) to stews and BBQ, Oiso has been the go-to-venue for Korean food fans in Bangsar South for a while now. This busy restaurant took its toll on the staffs, who weren’t as efficient as the usual Korean BBQ restaurants we are all familiar with. And being always exhausted from the heat in our country my pick is forever the Samgyetang (RM 26.90) which is only available for dinner and weekends. This whole young chicken stuffed with ginseng, sticky rice, jujubes (Korean dates), and garlic is not only energy boasting but impeccably tantalising.
Moving onto the refined rendering of home-cooked classic, Godeungeo Kimchi Jorim (RM 18.90 ) is a whole plump fillet of saba fish with fried kimchi and simmered for some time for a more intense flavour before serving on mini stove alongside an array of banchan (side dishes).
All the set meals served with unpolished rice, and such portion could win your heart effortlessly.
Oiso is obviously a solid venue for classic Korean. The Kimchi Pancake (RM 10.90) arrived on hot plate and is a perfect add on during communal eating.
With the usual Organic Brown Tea (RM 0.90) and Green Tea (RM 1.90) also being inexpensive, I can’t think of any reason to not visit them when thinking of pork-free classic Korean dishes.

I like Saba fish prepared in Japanese shioyaki style, definitely would like to try that kimchi stew style~
Yes, we used to the Japanese style only because most Korean houses are BBQ nia… this dish is pretty common Korean dish. Go and give it a try. Let me know if you like it. Pray hard it’s fresh ah… lol
