Apart from museums and art galleries, Italy has a rich culinary heritage and some of the most celebrated wines. It is no suprise that enogastronomic is trending big. Organised by the Italian Trade Agency Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with The Embassy of Italy Malaysia Business Association, we celebrated The World Week of Italian Cuisine’s 2nd edition with a series of dinner pairing. Themed “Italian Street Food is Gourmet”, this unique culinary experience was held in Villa Danieli @ Sheraton Imperial KL.
Having received Starwood’s ‘Dinner-Around’ award as the Best Cuisine in the area, and currently an Executive Chef at Hotel Excelsior in Venice, Chef Roberto is whipping up an extraordinary Italian taste gala dinner accompanied by free flow of wines sponsored by Paolo Lazzaroni and Vinicola Consoli (alcoholic) and Boscastle Toselli (non – alcoholic).
Think dishes like scallop roasted and beautifully sitting inside the smoked winter garden and potato foam for starter and some risotto cleverly reinterpreted with creamy oyster dressing and pumpkin dripping, plus a light refreshing tang of lemon air. Not forgetting the Portate Principali as well as the dessert to complete the gala dinner. Highlights include Sea bass fillet and lamb loin pairing with juicy and balanced tanin. Cesanese di Olevano Romano does an excellent job enhancing the flavours, a testament to the chef’s collaborative efforts.
Some wine inspired dishes as well as the contemporary interpretation of Italian Street Food is nothing more than perfect to learn more about the culinary heritage whilst experiencing the incredible skills of Chef Roberto.
