The annual Jemput Makan returns at The Resort Café in Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa and believe it or not, it’s my very first time at this Ramadan after all these years being actively tasting hotel buffets. Bright flavours are prepared and characterize traditional favourites, employing fresh produce complimented by local herbs and spices, chefs led by Chef Mohamad Yatim Supaat of 20 years of experience went to great lengths to ensure authentic recipe to be every bit as satisfying as the most traditional flavor of Ramadan celebration.
The ala carte menu featured it’s vibrant colour and aroma and we were served a pleasantly appetizing Mango with pegaga leaf served with prawn and scallop, before Asam Pedas Gearbox with a bamboo straw which was perfect to get the stomach ready. Also, in the lime light are their stalls and live stations of Churrasco, Seafood Bakar, Golek and Kawah, as well as Noodle, Nasi, Satay, and Goreng. There will be flavor Middle Eastern so meat lover can be rest assured to be mesmerized by the tender and juicy perfect grill of Kebab and meats.
Golek station showcasing the whole lamb, skillfully prep and cooked for long hours is a charm for meat lovers but I like the Kawah station, and the fact that there’s a variety showcase of assorted Gulai. Don’t miss out on the Warisan Station because there is where you find the bubur lambuk. I have had a thing for bubur lambuk since two year back and I do find this particular traditional dish intriguingly exotic in it’s own way. While it may be considered a comfort food in many ways, this tasty rice porridge is served during fasting month to break fast, almost like a must for dates during Ramadan. And yet, there isn’t a fix recipe for this because every cook and every chef would have their own rendition of bubur lambuk. As I grow to learn about the dish, the interest becomes so prominent that the dish becomes a must have and a all-time favourite at every and any Ramadan spread whenever it is available. Did you know? I was told by a Malay friend that bubur lambuk is regarded as a communal event in the Malay community because it is traditionally prepared in a big group in huge pots. Warming the soul after a whole day of fasting is one thing, but having such tradition and story behind the prepping is heart warming.
