Having been around for quite awhile now, the Alessio Publika (Solaris Dutamas) has proven to let their food do the talk with punchy propositions from their new menu starting this month. The elegant interior, complete with a bar and semi open kitchen where pizzas are cooked made it welcoming to dine in.
Paradiso (RM 19) parades a circus of colours with a fruit cocktail salad served prettily with fresh coconut water in a martini glass. The delicate cutting skill to dice the fruits to bite sizes was nonetheless admirable although unnecessary.
Savoury appetiser showcases skewers of grilled meat. The Lava Grilled Black Pepper Lamb Kebabs (RM 15) are accompanied by their grill sauce that’s spiced with black pepper but in actual fact, omitting the blackpepper was kinda acceptable seeing the onions on the skewers already gives that hint of punch in general.
The mains were some serious fusion of clever crafted dishes ranging from pastas to pizzas and some of those familar flavours from the local delights. Their oven cooks Live Fire Sourdough Crust Pizza – Hand Tossed (9 slices each, 18 inch) and bringing the best of 3 worlds, there is the Pizza Trio (RM 33) which puts together the Pepperoni pizza; duck Hawaiian Pizza & Wild Mushroom.
And serving what Malaysians enjoy, there is the fiery hot and flaming Spicy Chicken Pizza (RM 25) for anyone who is up for some burning sensation. It was heftily spiced with pepper and chili I almost forgotten this is a pizza.
Fusing Japanese to Malay, we had the Duo Salmon (RM 29)with Charocoal grilled salmon done 2 ways in miso butter and teriyaki sauce served with crispy golden enoki and choice of garlic egg fried rice (choice of kampong ikan bilis fried rice also available). Their effort to fuse the two in this dish was admirable but wasn’t quite a success, all thanks to the overcooked salmon fillets.
Alessio’s pasta specials in house made sauces had everyone nodding in agreement with satisfaction over the amazing toppings of crispy bacon, duck confit, sundried tomato, olives and fresh orange. Pasta wasn’t al Dante but this Twin Duck Spaghetti (RM 27) was almost perfect from the cohesive flavour of generous slices of duck and tanginess from fresh orange and sundried tomato.
Coconut Island King (RM 28) had a huge king prawn sautéed in curry leaves and salted egg surrounded in coconut sauce infused with birds eye chili served with crispy Vienna milk bun. But if sea harvest isn’t your thing, then there is always something from the barn. Tuscan Lamb Shank (RM 49) is definitely a sharing dish especially if you are a small eater. Standing on a bed of Tuscan ratatouille with creamy mashed potatoes, is a tender and slow roasted lamb shank.
And for those with liking to Asian flavours, new on the menu is the House special Nasi Lemak Muhibbah (RM 28). This humungous serving comes with ayam goreng berempah, butter tiger prawn and kari ikan tenggiri. A little overwhelming for nasi lemak if you asked me. Rice lacked aroma and moist but fish curry is always there to save the dish.
Attempting to dish a galore of choices, lobsters are also available in case anyone decided to splurge on their meals. The Twin Naked Lobster Thermidor (RM 168) sits an entire lobster made 2 ways; in cheesy termidor sauce encrusted in molten 3 cheeses and naked at its best grilled with French butter.
The all round up Asian fusion selection is accompanied with choices of mocktail, all concocted with impressive selection fruits. And speaking of fruits, the Crème Brulee is accompanied by lovely slices of fruits and itself earns bragging rights with those crackling sugar atop the soft custard. You have great food and drinks, chilled out services and somewhat wallet friendly prices here- I’d say that’s amore.

Coconut Island King – sounds exactly like a dish I’d like to order.
Oh ya.. that one is pretty good.
