“Mon Kee Confectionery has been pleasing many of our patrons with our delectable Chinese traditional pastries. Our pastries are suitable and delicious to have over tea or as dessert or just anytime of the day. In order to suit up with contemporary packaging design, our pastries are packed in new modern packaging. However, to keep the taste and aroma of our fluffy tarts and crispy pies authentic, they are still made with traditional recipes. Besides that, the new packaging makes our pastries great gifts for family and friends. On top of that, we have Dragon Phoenix Cookies for weddings and also full moon package for celebrating babies one month old. Both, wedding pastries and full moon package can be made-to-order by customers”(adapted from Mon Kee Confectionery homepage)
I thought the pastries were better and the fillings quite use a little improvement. However, this is still subjective because the flavour and taste obviously is to the liking of majority. Not to mention the long history and experience with their own recipe. The wide range of delectable pastries also includes a few new creativities like the Spicy Fried Siew Bo, as well as the Sardine Roll. Don’t forget the Bah Kut Teh Siew Bow.
The office and factory is located in Jalan Pudu itself and in 2013 the new concept store opens with the upgraded production facilities and technologies to meet the demand of high production. On top of that, they are also maintaining the traditional recipes at the same time. The best selling would be their popular Egg Tart, Curry Puff, and Siew Bo. The Coconut Tart is lovely and the coconut is very fine hence a good texture.
Apart from a few that was mentioned, the Mon Kee Confectionary also sells wedding pastry and full moon pastry. Refer to their homepage at http://www.monkee.com.my/home.htm
