Barn Thai is tapping into the growing appetite for Thai fare and regional flavours by launching a food promotion throughout month of December and into January, offering authentic regional Thai food, reformulating the mass perception of emblematic Thai food. Despite a border away, this neighbour country has so much more to offer when it comes to the food instead of the usual forecast of strong, robust, punchy-flavour of spicy and tangy sour.

Barn Thai held their press launch for this Food Promotion from the 4 regions of Thailand (Southern, Northern, Northeastern, and Central Region) on Wednesday 10th December 2014, and showcases the best of 4 regions with a narrative guide to each dish by Executive Thai Chef. Also present at the launch were Her Excellency, Miss Saowalak Chaichuson who is the Charge d’affaires a. i, of the Royal Thai Embassy Malaysia, together with First Secretary, Mr. Nattapong Suwanpakdee, Mr. Suwat Kumwong, Director for Tourism Authority of Thailand and Mr. Suttichoke Rodleechit, General Manager for Thai Airways International Malaysia.

Thailand is divided into four regions, each with their own geographic characteristic reflecting the differences in culinary alongside with availability of ingredients and differences in weather locations. Each region reigns to their own distinct cuisine, some not even found in Bangkok itself. This food promotion is that good opportunity to understand the many types of cooking method in each region and how each relates to the culture and heritage of Thailand, and expanding knowledge through each distinct dish.

Pla Sauce Tom Yum Hang – Deep fried whole grouper with tom yum herbs and shimeji mushrooms.

Kaeng Som Cha Pla Kra Pong– Deep fried whole sea bass with edible flowers, acacia omelet with hot sour curry soup.

Pad Mee Korat– Traditional wok fried rice noodle originated from Nakhon Ratchasima

Sai Oua Gai– Grilled northern style minced chicken sausage flavoured with Thai herbs

Pla Tod Ka Min– Fried kurau fish with fresh turmeric, garlic, lemongrass, galangai and black pepper

Nam Prik Ong Nam Prik Noon– Traditional specialty of Nothern Thailand style chilli, served with garden vegetables, chicken cracker, hardboiled egg and stuffed bamboo shoot.


The full glory of Thai delicacy is not complete with the renowned dessert, and who can resist these pretty cocktail serving.




The climax at this launch earned ovation with the Thai Airways graciously sponsoring 2 return air ticket to Bangkok as main prize for lucky draw. The lucky winners; Pemela Yeoh and Ivy Kam went home with the return tickets while guests and attendees received goody bags donated by Thai Airways International, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Charoen Pokphand Group Thailand.
